Matthew Gray Gubler took birth in Las Vegas, Nevada. His mother is named Marilyn Gubler and she’s the first lady to serve as the Republican State Chairman. Matthew belongs to a very well known family. His grandfather Maxwell Kelch was the first president of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the founder of Las Vegas’ first radio station. He has a sister, Laura Dahl, a very famous fashion designer, based in New York.
Matthew graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts, majoring in acting. He also joined New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and majored in film directing. Matthew also attended UC Santa Cruz.
Matthew Gray adopted modeling; however it was not his primary concern. In order to put himself through film school, he started working with DNA Model management, Tommy Hilfiger etc. In the models.com’s list of top 50 male models, Matthew appeared on #46. He next auditioned for the movie ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’ and landed the role of Intern 1. That performance led him to get the role of Dr. Spencer Reid on the hit crime based series ‘Criminal Minds’. In 2006, Matthew portrayed a small role on the movie ‘RV’ portraying the character of Joe Joe. In 2007, he voiced the character of Simon in ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks’.
While shooting for ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Matthew Gray made a documentary. It was named “Matthew Gray Gubler’s Life Aquatic Intern Journal’ and it gave behind the scenes view. Matthew has directed and starred in a series of mockumentaries called ‘Matthew Gray Gubler: The Unauthorized Documentary’.
Among his other acting credits are: ‘The Great Buck Howard’, ‘Pornstar’, How to Be a Serial Killer’, ‘500 Days of Summer’, ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel’ and ‘Rapunzel etc.
