A.J Cook was born on 22 July 1978 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. She is the daughter of Sandra who works for a psychiatrist and Mike, a teacher. She grew up in Whitby. She has the membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as such she accepts only those roles which do not conflict with her faith. She started training in jazz, tap and ballet dance forms from the age of four.
She is married to Nathan Anderson. They met in a film class in Utah Valley University, and they were married in September 2001. They have a son named Mekhai Allan Anderson, born on 13 September 2008.
She started her career by doing commercials for McDonald in 1997. Then, she had an opportunity to do guest appearance in the series ‘Goosebumps‘. She also made an appearance on the television for ‘PSI Factor’, ‘First Wave’, ‘Higher Ground’, ‘Dead Like Me ‘, Tru Calling’ and ‘Vanished’. The role that gave her much popularity was that of “Jennifer “JJ” Jareau”, for the series ‘Criminal Minds’. She started appearing in the series from 2005 and she has continued to be a part of the main cast across all the four seasons.
She has acted in several films until now. Some of the films in which she appeared in 1990’s are ‘Laserhawk’, ‘In His Father’s Shoes’, ‘Elvis Meets Nixon’, ‘The Virgin Suicides’, ‘Teen Sorcery’ and ‘Blue Moon’.
